Bus Driver/Van Driver
Bus Driver/Van Driver Allegany County Transit Both full-time and part-time positions may be available.
SUMMARY This position provides safe and dependable transportation by driving buses and vans, collecting fares, interpreting and distributing schedules, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring compliance of ADA regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent. (A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.) Must be willing to be trained in CPR and First Aid.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to: be sensitive to the needs of transit riders; maintain a professional, patient, and courteous attitude, and assist passengers on and off the bus. Must have use of sensory skills to communicate effectively and interact with other employees and the public through the use of telephone, radio, and personal contact. Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS A valid CDL driver’s license with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsement is required. Ability and willingness to drive safely in adverse weather conditions. Eligibility for coverage under the County’s motor vehicle insurance policy. Must be able to pass the prescribed DOT physical for this position. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. ACT performs random drug and alcohol testing.
SALARY AND BENEFITS This is a bargaining unit position with a wage rate of $16.51 per hour. Full-time positions are eligible for the complete County benefits package including health and life insurance, paid leave, and pension. Part-time positions receive limited benefits.
