Earlham College is seeking a Writing Center Director to join our team!
Summary: Earlham College seeks a motivated, independent, creative person to serve as the Director of our Writing Center. The Director will partner with personnel across the College to promote excellence in writing and academic support services.
Preference will be given to those candidates with background in Writing Center Administration and/or library instruction at the collegiate level, proven success in training and managing student tutors, and/or multimodal composition background.
Essential Functions:
o 1-credit writing tutorials and student skills development workshops,
o After one year, a 4-credit first-year seminar.

Essential Functions:
- Select, train, and supervise student writing and research peer consultants
- Perform individual writing and research tutoring
- Manage the Writing Center website and operating budget
- Offer skills-building workshops through the Academic Enrichment Center on topics such as time management and study skills, managing a heavy reading load, etc.
- Offer faculty development workshops in coordination with the College's Teaching and Learning Consultant on topics such as giving effective feedback, etc.
- Assess and continuously improve Writing Center programs
- Teach:
o 1-credit writing tutorials and student skills development workshops,
o After one year, a 4-credit first-year seminar.
- Additional duties as assigned
- Master's degree in a writing-related field is required, Composition and Rhetoric preferred
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and experience with Writing Center practice and theory
- Ability to work closely with a range of campus constituencies
- Ability to work with students at all levels
- Be a positive example and resource to all Earlham Students
