Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Health and Human Performance at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for two full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty positions (#118610 and #145150) at the rank of Lecturer in Exercise Science. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointment is August 1, 2023. The position is contingent upon funding.
Applicants should possess academic qualifications for teaching undergraduate courses in a traditional exercise science program. Some of these courses may include but are not limited to exercise techniques and leadership, resistance training techniques, exercise physiology, exercise assessment for healthy populations, exercise prescription and program planning, resources for professional practice in exercise science, and exercise assessment and prescription for special populations. Knowledge of the guidelines and principles of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) are advantageous. Evidence of professional service at the regional or national level of these organizations is desirable. In addition, applicants are expected to demonstrate commitment to quality teaching and working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Required Education
A master's degree in Exercise Science or a closely related field is required.
Other Desirables
Applicants with previous experience teaching at the collegiate level, certification(s) from ACSM, NASM, or NSCA, or those pursuing or with an earned PhD will receive special consideration.
