The OSU Department of Capital Planning & Development is seeking a Leasing Contract Specialist. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Leasing and Strategic Real Property Contract Specialist drafts, negotiates, reviews, and analyzes multi-transactional and complex leasing and licensing transactions within the Leasing & Strategic Real Property Management unit, as part of a holistic approach and stewardship of the University’s real property assets. Ensures specific contract, leasing and agreement compliance with guidelines, state and federal laws, OSU policies and procedures, and industry standards.
The Leasing and Strategic Real Property Contract Specialist drafts, negotiates, reviews, and analyzes multi-transactional and complex leasing and licensing transactions within the Leasing & Strategic Real Property Management unit, as part of a holistic approach and stewardship of the University’s real property assets. Ensures specific contract, leasing and agreement compliance with guidelines, state and federal laws, OSU policies and procedures, and industry standards.
This position drafts, negotiates, reviews, and analyzes multi-transactional leasing and licensing projects and provides guidance and advice for non-recurring and complex situations as they arise. Uses independent judgment and decision-making related to responsibilities of the position. Decisions have implications and impact departments across the University related to their real estate and leasing requirements.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from an institution with higher education accreditation or equivalent OR 4 years of demonstrated combination of training, education, and professional experience.
- Experience drafting, negotiating, analyzing, or reviewing contracts.
- Oregon Real Estate Broker or Property Manager license within 12 months of hire.
- Highly organized, shows initiative, resourceful, and knows how to problem solve. Ability to operate effectively and efficiently, prioritizing work in a self-directed and self-motivated environment.
- Excellent analytical, attention to detail and proofreading skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral. Ability to speak effectively with sensitivity and tact and write clearly, and succinctly.
- Experience applying or interpreting laws, regulations or policies, which may include Federal laws, State laws, guidelines or rules of operations.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in a public organization or University environment.
- Experience drafting, negotiating, analyzing, reviewing real property agreements.
- Experience with GIS.
- Experience with Visual Lease Administration software.
- Experience with updating website content.
- Experience managing and monitoring budgets.
