The Department of Computer Science at Rowan University, the third fastest growing public research institution as recognized by The Chronicle of Higher Education, invites applications for a Lecturer position to begin January 2023. This search is part of a broader, multi-year faculty hiring initiative across the College of Science & Mathematics.
We seek candidates who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate level. In addition to teaching responsibilities, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the various service endeavors in the Department, College, and University.
Lecturer positions are 10-month full-time, renewable, and include benefits. Successful candidates will teach a total of 24 credits over two semesters, with an option to teach overload and summer classes for additional compensation. We anticipate hiring at the Lecturer level, but outstanding candidates may be considered at the Senior Lecturer or Master Lecturer levels.
Qualifications:
- A master's degree in Computer Science, or closely related discipline, is required; Ph.D. is preferred
- Evidence of excellence in teaching is required and student advising/mentorship experience is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills highly desired
- Ability to teach courses in operating systems, cloud architectures, embedded and concurrent programming, software engineering and/or databases desired but not required.
The Department of Computer Science is one of six departments in the College of Science & Mathematics and offers an ABET-accredited B.S. in Computer Science degree along with an M.S. in Computer Science, an M.S. in Data Science, an M.S. in Cybersecurity, a B.A. in Computing and Informatics degrees, and we have additional programs (including a Ph.D.) in development. The Department continues to grow quickly and is among the largest on campus. Additionally, opportunities for entrepreneurial funding are available through the Rowan Innovation Venture Fund (RIVF), with a recent investment of $25 million.
