POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

Computational Toxicology for Emerging Chemicals

A postdoctoral appointment is available for a project focused on Developing Computational Tools and Approaches to Predict Environmental Hazards of Emerging Chemicals with Dr. Carla Ng's Research Group at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

We seek a highly motivated person to lead a computational project on understanding how chemical structure influences the biological accumulation and toxic effects of emerging environmental pollutants, with a particular focus on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The successful applicant will possess a PhD in civil and environmental engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related fields, have an excellent academic record, and work well in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment. The candidate should have completed the P.h.D. prior to the date of joining. The project involves the development and application of models that take advantage of modern computational approaches including molecular dynamics, quantum chemical simulations, and machine learning.

The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility for an extension based on performance. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
