Position Description

The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has five (5) academic anesthesiologist positions available at the rank of Assistant Professor at two affiliated hospitals:  Harborview Medical Center and University of Washington Medical Center.  The positions are without tenure, due to funding and are either full-time and part-time, with an anticipated start date as early as September 2024 or thereafter.  Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.  The base salary range for the positions will be:  $29,532 - $31,337 per month ($354,384 - $376,044 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.  This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.  Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Qualifications

 

Must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent).  Must be Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in anesthesiology and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.  Must have a minimum of one-year fellowship training (or foreign equivalent) in cardiothoracic anesthesiology for cardiothoracic  position or one-year of fellowship training (or foreign equivalent) in pain medicine for pain position.  In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.  Visa sponsorship is not available for part-time positions.
